Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Editorial Links collects, uses, shares and protects personal information in connection with our website and platform, for visitors, businesses, editors, writers, contractors and other users, wherever they access the platform from.

Introduction

Editorial Links (referred to as “Editorial Links,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a professional editorial discovery and content-production platform that connects businesses with independent editors and writers based on their published work. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you visit our website, create an account, apply as an editor, submit a project request, publish or read content, or otherwise interact with the platform.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using Editorial Links, you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the platform.

Who We Are

Editorial Links is operated by SIXSENSE DIGITAL, a corporation registered in India under registration number OD-19-00076700, with a registered address at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Where required by applicable law, our representative or Data Protection Officer can be contacted at legal@editorial-links.com.

Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through the Editorial Links website, editor and business accounts, contact and project forms, the editor dashboard, and any related services we operate. It applies to visitors browsing public content, businesses using the platform to find editors, and editors who have applied for and been granted account access.

It does not apply to third-party websites, services or payment providers that we link to or integrate with, which maintain their own privacy policies.

Information We Collect

We collect information in the following categories, depending on how you use the platform.

Information Provided Directly by Users

Information you choose to give us directly, such as when you fill out a form, apply for an account, or contact us.

Editor Information

If you apply to become an editor, we collect information such as your name or professional name, professional email address, current or past editorial roles, areas of expertise, years of experience, examples of previously published work, a professional biography, and any other information you choose to include in your application or profile.

Business Information

If you submit a project request or create a business account, we collect information such as your name, company name, business email address, website, industry, and details about the content or editor you are looking for.

Account Information

For approved editors and registered business users, we maintain account information including login credentials (passwords are stored in encrypted/hashed form, not in plain text), account role, and account status.

Contact and Communication Information

When you contact us, apply, or submit a request, we retain the content of that communication along with associated metadata (such as the date and time it was sent) so that we can respond and maintain a record of the interaction.

Payment and Transaction Information

Where the platform processes payments (for example, for Business Access Credits or Publishing Credits), payment details are handled by a third-party payment processor. See How We Share Information and Payments below for more detail. We do not name a specific payment provider in this policy unless and until one has been selected; this section should be updated to reflect the actual processor used.

Credit and Account Activity

Where applicable, we maintain records of Business Access Credit and Publishing Credit balances and activity, such as when a credit is used to unlock eligible editor contact information, or when a credit is granted or consumed to publish an article. This activity is tied to your account for accounting, support and fraud-prevention purposes.

Published Articles and Public Profile Information

Content that editors choose to publish, and the public-facing portions of an editor profile (see Images, Logos, Trademarks and Third-Party Content and the Editors section below), is intentionally made publicly visible as part of the platform’s purpose.

Information Automatically Collected

Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information when you visit the platform, including IP address, browser type, device information, referring/exit pages, and general usage data (such as pages viewed and actions taken). This information helps us operate, secure and improve the platform, and to detect and prevent fraud or abuse.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the platform is used. Depending on the tools in place at the time you use the platform, this may include analytics or performance-monitoring technologies. See Cookies Management below for how to control these where applicable.

How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the platform
  • Review and process editor applications
  • Create and manage editor and business accounts
  • Display editor profiles and published articles publicly
  • Process and facilitate business project requests and editor opportunities
  • Process Business Access Credits and Publishing Credits, and related transactions
  • Communicate with you about your account, application, or request
  • Moderate user-generated content against our editorial and content standards
  • Investigate and respond to copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights complaints
  • Maintain security, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms
  • Comply with legal obligations that apply to us

We do not sell personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

How We Share Information

Service Providers and Processors

We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the platform, such as hosting providers, database providers, email delivery services, and analytics tools, under agreements that limit their use of the information to providing services to us.

Payment Processors

Where payments are processed on the platform, payment and transaction information may be shared with a third-party payment processor to complete the transaction. We may receive confirmation and limited transaction details from that processor without necessarily receiving or storing complete payment-card information ourselves.

Hosting, Security and Technical Providers

We use third-party infrastructure and security providers (for example, for hosting, database management, and file storage) to operate the platform reliably and securely.

Business/Editor Communications

When Editorial Links facilitates an opportunity between a business and an editor, we may share relevant project information (such as the nature of the content requested) with the editor, and relevant professional information about the editor with the business, to the extent necessary to facilitate that specific opportunity.

Publicly Visible Information

Information that is part of a published article or the public-facing portion of an editor profile is, by design, visible to anyone who visits the platform, and may be indexed by search engines.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights, property or safety of Editorial Links, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to applicable legal requirements.

User-Generated Content

Content Submitted by Editors

Articles, profile information, and other material submitted by editors for publication are reviewed against our editorial standards before or shortly after publication, as described in our editorial guidelines. Once published, this content is publicly visible.

Content Submitted by Businesses

Project requirements, briefs and related material submitted by businesses are used to facilitate the relevant opportunity and are not published publicly.

Images, Logos, Trademarks and Third-Party Content

Users who submit photographs, videos, logos, brand names, product images, illustrations, screenshots, documents, quotes, or other copyrighted or trademarked material to Editorial Links must have the necessary rights, permissions, or lawful basis to submit and publish that material.

Submitting material to Editorial Links does not automatically transfer ownership of that material to Editorial Links. Users remain responsible for ensuring that anything they submit does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights belonging to a third party.

Editorial Links may remove, restrict, or disable access to material where we receive a credible complaint, a legal notice, or otherwise identify a violation of this policy or our terms. A general disclaimer in this policy does not, and is not intended to, completely protect Editorial Links from liability, and does not relieve users of their own responsibility for what they submit.

International Data Transfers

Editorial Links serves users internationally, and personal information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the one in which you are located, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your own. Where required by applicable law, we aim to use appropriate safeguards for such transfers. Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to your information, you may have additional rights regarding international transfers of your data.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the platform, fulfil the purposes described in this policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected; for example, published articles and public profile information generally remain available for as long as the associated account remains active and in good standing, while account and transaction records may be retained for a longer period as required for accounting, legal or security purposes.

Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted storage of passwords, access controls, and role-based permissions that restrict who within Editorial Links can view sensitive information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored on the platform.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. Please notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

Children's Privacy

Editorial Links is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to, and should not be used by, children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age applicable in their jurisdiction (generally under 16, or a different age where local law specifies otherwise). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

International Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and the laws applicable to your information, you may have additional rights beyond those described elsewhere in this policy.

GDPR / EEA / UK Rights Where Applicable

If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to your personal information, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict our use of your information, to receive a copy of your information in a portable format, to object to certain processing (including processing based on legitimate interests), and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California Privacy Rights Where Applicable

If the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), applies to you, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose and (where applicable) sell about you, to request deletion or correction of your information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

Other Jurisdiction-Specific Rights Where Applicable

Users in other countries or regions may have similar or additional rights under local law. We do not claim that Editorial Links is automatically compliant with every country’s privacy law; where a specific jurisdiction imposes obligations on us, we intend to meet those obligations as applicable to our operations there.

How to Request Access, Correction or Deletion

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us using the details in Contact Information below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, and some information may be retained where we have a legitimate business or legal reason to do so.

Marketing Communications

Where we send marketing communications, we will provide a way to opt out, such as an unsubscribe link in the message or a request made directly to us. We will not use your information for marketing purposes beyond what applicable law permits.

Third-Party Websites and Links

The platform may contain links to third-party websites, including editors’ other published work, external references cited in articles, or business websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

External Editors / Independent Contractors

Editors on Editorial Links work as independent contractors, not as our employees, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. Where an editor collects or processes personal information in the course of a project facilitated through the platform (for example, information a business shares directly with them once an engagement begins), that processing is generally between the business and the editor, and this Privacy Policy does not govern an editor’s independent use of information outside of the platform.

Automated Decision-Making / Profiling

We do not currently use fully automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning users without human involvement (for example, editor applications are reviewed individually by our editorial team, not approved or rejected by an automated system alone). If this changes, we will update this policy accordingly and provide information about the logic involved and your rights, where required by applicable law.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the platform, our practices, or legal requirements. We will revise the effective date below when we do, and where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
